Legislative Minute #17 - Legislature Gives Themselves a Pay Raise

Good morning everyone. Here’s another quick Legislative Minute about our progress in the VT Legislature. Yesterday we voted on H.961 which is the first quarter budget for FY2021 among other items. H.961 is a bill I supported overall which included some important language for the VT State Employees. However, sections b3 and b4 were included and those sections gave us, the legislature, a potential pay raise in FY2022. I did not support this part of the bill and when these sections were divided out I voted against giving myself a pay raise. Unfortunately, 82 Representatives thought we deserved a raise while tens of thousands of Vermonters are out of work. I feel this is irresponsible and not what my constituents would have wanted.
